In November 2018, Steve Bannon, previously a top aide to Donald Trump, was in the UK to deliver a address at the Oxford Union.
The event was disrupted by numerous demonstrators, and Bannon, scheduled to travel that night, told Jeffrey Epstein in an email: "Protesters slowed down my talk I doubt I can make the flight we are heading to the airport".
Epstein replied: "That. Is a Gulf Air departing at 950 with a stop in Bahrain". Bannon answered: "You are an amazing helper".
These messages were published on this week alongside over 20,000 documents from the estate of Epstein, the deceased financier convicted of sex crimes.
The release by the House oversight committee contains an text conversation where Bannon's name is redacted. Media outlets managed to establish his involvement by matching the timeline, occurrences, and places referenced.
For instance, Epstein discusses chartering a plane from Scotland for the unnamed individual in the messages, and commends their "Oxford speech". Bannon took part in the News Xchange conference on 14 November, and gave the speech at the Oxford two days later.
Bannon, who faces no allegations of any wrongdoing, did not reply on the inquiry.
Bannon served as Trump's closest aides in the lead-up to the presidential election and in the early days of his presidency, but stepped down from the White House in August 2017.
He has acknowledged he was producing a documentary about Epstein before his death and reportedly has around 15 hours of footage. In a recording of his podcast earlier this year, he stated: "We plan to publish the series, the multi-part documentary, in the coming year - at the start of next year."
But the recently disclosed materials suggest Bannon's relationship with Epstein extended than documenting his life, with the convicted paedophile at times appearing to serve like a aide.
A few days prior to the exchange in which Epstein seemed to booked a charter jet for Bannon, Epstein remarked: "how does it feel to have the most highly paid booking agent in history ".
Bannon thanked him: "You are quite capable assistant", to which Epstein responded "Therapies. Not Included".
Discussing a visit to "AD" in a separate text, Epstein assured Bannon: "I'll make sure you're taken care of."
The released communications also show Bannon and Epstein talking about British political matters in that year.
Earlier on the day of his speech at the Oxford, Bannon messaged Epstein: "I've gotten pulled into the Brexit issue this day with Nigel, Boris and Rees Mogg."
Then, in what seems like a allusion to the UK prime minister, the embattled British leader at the time, he continued: "The guys are attempting to move on. May soon…"
Epstein advised Bannon: "I think remaining as long as you can in the UK. Ideal- so people see the dedication of your follow-up."
Soon after, Epstein asked: "Will Theresa May survive". Bannon replied: "I don't see how however the guys over here have no balls" and added "Boris ; Michael Gove; Rees Mogg; Davis - someone has to step up".
Theresa May was eventually removed in May 2019 after withstanding two votes of no confidence in December 2018.
A representative for the political party informed media: "Nigel Farage has not been in a gathering with Steve Bannon, Jacob Rees Mogg and Johnson." And there is nothing to suggest that encounter took place.
The Congress will vote soon on whether the justice department should release all its records related to its probe into Epstein, who passed away in prison in that year.
Attention in Epstein's relationships with influential individuals was reignited recently after the release of over 20,000 documents from his estate.
A portion of those referenced the former president, who has consistently denied any wrongdoing. The president was a acquaintance of Epstein's for a long time, but says they fell out in the 2000s, two years before Epstein was initially charged.
