Toy Story 5 Teaser Sets Woody and Buzz Against a Tablet Computer

It has been 30 years after the first Toy Story film debuted, establishing the animation giant as a major animation studio and bringing audiences to beloved figures like Woody (the actor) and Buzz Lightyear (the voice talent), who are now household names.

In 2026, the next chapter is scheduled for release. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, offering a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the ending of Toy Story 4.

Bonnie's New Toy: A Frog-Shaped Tablet Spooks the Toys

The preview reveals Bonnie — who inherited the toy collection when he left for college — receiving a latest plaything, one that alarms the familiar toy group. She acquires her first tablet computer, and she is excited about it.

Theoretically, the frog-shaped tablet will come to life just like Bonnie's other toys. However, the toys appear to consider it as a threat coming to replace them, which it likely will.

The Cowboy's Comeback: Mysteries from Toy Story 4

One thing the teaser avoids is what the sheriff is back with his friends in Bonnie's room. The finale of Toy Story 4 depicted him embark on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys find good homes.

Surely, Pixar will address the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Witnessing him show up in the familiar setting unexpectedly is somewhat puzzling, though. It also makes us wonder whether Bo Peep will have returned with Woody. And what about Duke Caboom (the star)?

Connections from the Last Installment

Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the earlier movie. The last thing the cowboy did before departing for his fresh path was pass his symbol of authority to the cowgirl (Joan Cusack), entrusting her as the leader of Bonnie's bedroom. In the teaser displays the insignia pinned to her outfit.

Hopefully she is still the driving force among the toys.
